When is the best time to visit Ruaha National Park

The middle and end of the Dry season (from June to October) is the best time for wildlife viewing in the park. Vegetation is thinner and animals gather around predictable water sources making it easy to spot wildlife. The male greater kudu is most visible in June during the breeding season. The best time to see wild dog is during their denning season, from June to August.

Bird Watching : Blessed with over 500 bird species residential and migratory, best viewed in the rainy season .These include African eagle fish, ashy starling among others.

How to Access Ruaha National Park

 The Park can be reached by car on a drift from Iringa. Chartered domestic flights using the Msembe Airstrip at Msembe Headquarter, Jongomeru Airstrip at Jongomeru Ranger post.

Note: Distance from Dar-es-salaam via Iringa is around 580km driving for around 10-12 hours, from Mikumi National park 320Km  driving around 5 hours.

Day 2: Selous, morning and afternoon safari activities
Today, join your experienced ranger guide for a full or half-day game drive through the Selous. The itinerary and timing of your excursion are decided at the moment by each group depending on guests’ wishes and recent animal movements. Drives often visit one or more of the region’s lakes to see groups of animals drinking.

Day 3: Selous, morning and afternoon safari activities
One of the most exciting opportunities for the more adventurous is a walking safari. The Selous Game Reserve is one of the few parks in Tanzania where visitors can travel on foot and relive the experience of some of the early explorers. Choose a general wildlife trail or one that is focused on a special interest. Of course, an armed ranger will accompany you at all times. It is one of the best ways to fully appreciate the landscape and learn about the wildlife from their point of view.

In the afternoon, explore the far reaches of the Rufiji River’s many lakes and tributaries on a boat safari. Visit numerous points and look out for the animals that make this river their home. End the day watching a magnificent sunset paint the river in vibrant colors from your floating vantage point.
